PE Christmas Trees

Until 2005 the vast majority of artificial Christmas trees had needles made from PVC. The needles were two dimensional and cut from thin, colored sheets of PVC. To make far more realistic needles with the shape and thickness of a real needle, PE or poly-ethylene was poured into molds made based on real tree needles. Since 2005 a significant portion of higher end trees are being made with PE needles, although the majority of trees with PE needles do use PVC needles as filler further up the branches. In specialty Christmas stores you can find these trees under categories such as PE Christmas Trees, Premium Christmas Trees, Molded Tip Christmas Trees, etc. In big box stores such as Target and Wal-Mart, and on lower end e-commerce sites there are very few if any artificial trees with PE needles.

Below are a few artificial Christmas trees with PE needles that can be purchased on the internet:

Tip: When searching for the above trees on the internet, add the words “artificial Christmas trees” to your search. Otherwise you’ll find many results that have nothing to do with artificial trees.
